Fish Packaging in the Industry

Once fish have been slaughtered, packaging is the final step before their bodies reach consumers as products. After processing and cooling, trout are sorted by size and quality. However, suffering sometimes persists until the very last moment.
As we have observed during investigations, some trout arrive alive at the packaging stage and become buried in transport boxes while still showing vital signs, evidencing serious negligence in animal handling.
Packaging occurs without consideration for the welfare of any surviving fish. They are stacked directly, risking suffocation or crushing deaths. What we've witnessed at this final stage highlights the lack of adequate regulations in fish treatment within the aquaculture industry, perpetuating suffering until the animals reach markets.
